"Antico Forno gets the nod for incorporating a red-sauce joint's most salient features - cozy vibe, hearty portions - into an otherwise upscale big picture. The piatti con rigatoni, in particular, are as good as you'll find anywhere in town, at any price."

Sagra della Porchetta

On Sunday, October 19th 2003, Terramia Ristorante and Antico Forno  held a celebration for their 10th and 7th year anniversaries, respectively, at Antico Forno, 93 Salem Street in the North End. This Celebration was a characteristic Italian feast called a "sagra" in the tradition of Executive Chef Giusseppe Tinnirello's home town of Frattamaggiore, Naples.

The "sagra" is a community festival for the people that features particular foods native to the region or village preparing the "sagra" . Terramia and Antico Forno  liked to bring Bostonians a step closer to real Italian life with food prepared in the authentic ways that make it so characteristic, so unique.

This Anniversary Celebration  featured the Italian favorite "porchetta" ( slow roasted suckling pig ), served with rosemary focaccia and other Naples specialties, like oven roasted vegetables and fresh peaches al vino. Chef Tinnirello  prepared his now-famous gnocchi with a fresh plum tomato basil sauce. The doors opened at 2:00 pm and for $35 per person, Boston diners were able to participate in a real Italian experience complete with live traditional music. Also, on hand was Chef de Cuisine, Salvatore Gaglio, whotook breaks from the kitchen to play his trumpet. 15% of the proceeds was donated to The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDRF).
