"Antico Forno gets the nod for incorporating a red-sauce joint's most salient features - cozy vibe, hearty portions - into an otherwise upscale big picture. The piatti con rigatoni, in particular, are as good as you'll find anywhere in town, at any price."
"My husband and I stumbled across your restaurant 6 years
ago when we were walking through Boston and had a wonderful meal. It was so
memorable that when we came back to Boston, we decided to try and find you
again. Much to our delight, not only did we find you again, the food was as
excellent as I remember. Thank you" Thursday August 05, 2004 by Shevaun McNaughton

"We were in Boston this past weekend and had
the most amazing lunch at your restaurant on
Sunday! We are still thinking of the meal we had
and can't wait to come back to Boston to eat
there again! My husband had the chicken parm
special over linguini and it melted in your
mouth. The sauce was amazing - do you have a
site w/ any recipes?? I would love to have the
recipe for that sauce! It was so addictive! And
the bread was delicious too! I had the Linguine
Con Vongole and it hit the spot! Thanks for a
wonderful meal - we LOVE your restaurant!"

"This afternoon my family enjoyed
an early dinner at your restaurant before
sending our son off to the UK for four months.
The food was delicious and the service great;
thank you for a very special meal!"

"Antico Forno is a gem! Food,
service, atmosphere, value are all excellent. I
drive down from Vermont for a taste of Italian
heaven."

"Antico Forno is a jewel in the
center of the North End. Every time my sister
flies in from Washington DC, we head right for
Salem Street and our favorite restaurant. We are
always greeted with warmth, and the entire menu
selection is perfect. The Tuscan bread and
spiced olives are fabulous starters, and any
choice from the menu is a winner. Thank you for
such a lovely place to feel like Italy."

I got Fettuccine Positano, and it was everything I expected out of a red sauce, seafood pasta: spicy sauce, tons of scallops and shrimp (I ran out of pasta before I ran out of seafood - very rare for me), tender pasta, and garlic. I tried some of my sister's Calamari Fritti - lightly fried calamari, very tasty. The service was good, and the atmosphere was also good.

Thought it was good. The flavors in my pizza weren't as sharp as those at Regina, but it was good quality. For people who don't like sharp and spicy flavors, Antico Forno might be a better bet for pizza. And of course it offers a nicer atmosphere and foods beyond pizza. The salad was excellent. Reasonably priced, casual.

This
place is
very
good;
Salem
Street
should
never
come
second
to
Hanover...if
anything,
they
should
always
be
mentioned
together,
but
don't
tell the
tourists
that! I
was here
last
week and
grabbed
an early
dinner.
I have
to say
that
I've had
better
Caesar
Salads,
but my
friend
loved
hers.
My
gnocchi
was
delicious...top
three
I've
ever
had. My
friend
had the
roasted
chicken
with
Tuscan
style
roasted
garlic,
potatoes
and
green
beans,
which
they are
known
for and
she
raved
about
it. The
atmosphere
is dark
and
romantic
and the
hostess
and
waiter
were
very
tentative.
With it
cold and
rainy
outside,
it was
nice to
see the
fireplace
going
strong.
There
was
another
young
family
with us
that
night
with two
small
kids,
which
certainly
added to
the
family
feel of
the
restaurant.
That's
something
you
don't
find on
Hanover
all that
much any
more.

I
absolutely
love
this
place.
The
staff is
so
friendly,
and I
love
seeing
the same
hostess
and
server
each
time. A
very
cozy
place,
with a
brick
oven
that
makes
their
dishes
even
better.
Split a
pizza
and
order
another
dish
(the caprese
is
good!),
and two
people
can
share a
light
but
filling
lunch. I
can't
keep
myself
out of
that
place
when I
go to
the
North
End, so
you
won't
see any
other
reviews
of the
area
from me!
03/09/2006
love
it. i
love
that
it's
tucked
away on
salem
street
and you
don't
have as
many
tourists
wandering
thru.
most
recently,
i got
the
margharita
pizza
and
pigged
out on
the
whole
thing.
but
i've
never
had a
bad meal
here.!
03/01/2006
yum
yum yum!
italian
just
like
grandma's!
this
hidden
jem is
tucked
AWAY
from
touristy
hanover
street.
try out
the
margarita
pizza
and
eggplant
fusilli.
yum
yum.
one of
the only
things i
miss
about
boston.
02/22/2006
Please
note
that
Antico
Forno
has a
picture
of a
SQUIRREL
on it's
awning.
Which is
awesome.
I've
only
eaten
here for
lunch,
but I've
never
been
disappointed
-
they've
got fine
pizza
and
pasta at
moderate
lunchtime
prices.
And the
staff
are
friendly
and
attentive.
02/20/2006
If I
could
give
this
place
more
stars I
would. I
live in
the
North
End and
my
reviews
are
highly
concentrated
in this
area.
With
that
said, I
would
not
review
any
place
more
highly
than
Antico
Forno. I
ordered
the
Fusilli
Al
Tegamino
and it
was
scrumptious.
But I
must say
that I
tasted
my
friend's
Rigatoni
Alla
Boscaiola
and
thought
it was
heaven
on
earth.
Everyone
I went
with
(seven
people!)
ordered
different
things
and
thought
it was
the best
meal
they had
ever
had. I
am
amazed.
Awed. Go
here
now.
02/14/2006
Very
good
North
End
eatery,
I think
the
owners
also own
Terramia.
Reasonable
prices,
very
nice
atmosphere.
Casual
North
End
choice!
01/14/2006
What
can you
add to
what's
already
been
said.
The
food is
just
wonderful
from top
to
bottom.
I had
the best
gnocchi
here.
The
floorplan
is a bit
spread
out but
in a way
that
lends a
sense of
privacy
while
keeping
a
feeling
of
coziness.
A North
End
treat.
10/27/2005
So
ridiculously
freakin'
good! We
wandered
in
because
it
looked
nice.
The
lunch
menu was
small.
The
decor
was so
so, but
the
food.
YUM! I
will be
back. I
think it
may have
supplanted
Il
Panino
as my
favorite
North
End
eatery.
08/22/2005
This
might
just be
my
favorite
restaurant
in the
North
End.
Certainly
one of
the more
authentic
spots,
as close
to Italy
as
you're
gonna
get.
Absolutely
delicious
gnocchi
served
with
bubbling
mozzerella
cheese
in a
terracotta
bowl,
fresh
out of
the
wood-burning
oven.
Good
pizza
too, as
well as
many
other
interesting
dishes.
It's
cozy and
romantic
and an
all-around
great
choice
for
North
End
dining.
07/10/2005
"Old
oven" is
the
translation.
(I
think).
My
favorite
Italian
place in
the
North
End
which is
known
for
great
Italian
cuisine.
I just
love how
cozy it
is and
how
great
and
traditional
the food
tastes
(baked
in
parchment
paper in
a stone
oven).
The
prices
are
moderate
for the
great
food you
get---not
as
expensive
as their
famous
very
expensive
sister
restaurant
(Terramia)
across
the
street .
LOVE
the
caprese
and the
fruitti
de mare
linguini!!
Amazing
pizzas
and
everything
else.
Cute
date
place as
well.
